The annual pro-am characterised by rounds that can take more than six hours is again upon us. The event is staged in rotation over the first three days on three courses in Scotland, the Old Course at St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns, with the Home of Golf hosting Sunday’s final round. The courses are about average in length but the generous fairways bring driver into play though finding the greens in the correct number of shots and putting well will also be key attributes.

Ross Fisher combines decent course form with current form and has the relaxed type of temperament that allows him to handle the special demands of the format. Stephen Gallacher also excels in the key skill’s elements required for good scoring. Richard Sterne’s solid bank of current form consolidates his liking for the tournament. Fisher and Gallacher have enough in their profile to outscore Paul Casey and Shane Lowry over 72 holes while Charl Schwartzel looks more suited to the challenge than Martin Kaymer.
