Will Rose blossom at the BMW PGA Championship?

Wentworth is always a highlight of the golfing calendar. An opportunity to get close to Europe’s finest players, with access that’s far easier than the Open Championship. With non-perennials Sergio Garcia, Henrik Stenson, Charl Schwartzel and Jonas Blixt also in this week’s we are set for an absolute cracker.
Wentworth was re-modelled by Ernie Els for the 2010 and the course plays as a stretching 7,300 yard Par 71. Recent winners here have all had prior experience of the event and recent contending performances over the West Course, including Simon Khan who loves to shock the golfing world regularly in leafy Surrey.
The big question for me this week is whether Justin Rose can capture his first BMW PGA Championship this week? Most recent BMW PGA Championship winners had a near miss or two in their history in this event and Justin’s 3 top-10s in his last 6 starts here is a perfect platform for another assault on the title. 2 of those results were runners-up places, so it’s clear that Justin’s precision bombing game is perfect for the close confines of Wentworth. His current form is excellent and trending in the right direction after an elbow injury caused some dis-comfort around the turn of the season.
The only doubt in my mind is whether Rose can win so close to his US Open defence at Pinehurst in 3 weeks time. You don’t see many first time Major Champions go on to win again whilst they are the reigning champions, but with a game that’s trending I can’t see Rose not finishing in the places at 14/1.
