Most Popular Blackjack Variants

Although the old favorite game of Blackjack hasn’t changed its basic rules, still there are many popular variations that have appeared throughout the year. This is mainly because the growth and development of casinos led to the appearance of big competition in the casino world. Each casino then took the game of Blackjack and modified it. Some changes were for the better but some were just put together in an effort to look different than in other casinos.

Nonetheless, today there are a lot of Blackjack variants that are famous on their own accord that people can enjoy in both land-based and online casinos around the world. Here’s a brief description of the most popular ones, however, make sure you read the casino rules for each of them carefully before you try them out.

Chinese Blackjack

The only difference between the standard and Chinese version of the game is the worth of the aces, which depends largely on how many times the player has accepted cards. Also, the dealers can switch if there’s a need. It goes without saying that this variant was coined in Asian countries.

Pontoon

Pontoon is the British version of Blackjack which differs from the standard one in placing the bets. Namely, in Pontoon first, the players get a card and then decide on the bet. After they’ve placed the bets, the dealer deals the second card and the game essentially continues in a similar way to the standard version. The game is available at betting sites like NetBet.

Multi-Hand Blackjack

Multi-hand blackjack has the exact same rules as standard blackjack, however, the only difference is that instead of playing the regular one hand at a time, players get to play up to eight hands all at once!

Double Exposure Blackjack

This variant is quite different than the standard version as the cards of the dealer are exposed, both of them. As this puts players at an advantage, the multiple splits, surrender, and insurance are not allowed, so that the casino could bring back things in its favor.

Blackjack Switch

The Blackjack Switch variant is pretty famous and different from the standard version. Two separate hands are being dealt, but only after the bets are put. Then, the player can look at the cards and see whether he can make two better hands and if he does, he’s allowed to switch the two cards from the two separate hands. Of course, there’s a catch. The dealer will bust only if he has a 23 or something higher; otherwise no, he doesn’t and there’s a push which ends the hand for everyone, regardless of their total.

As you can see, these popular blackjack variants are each interesting in their own way. But, you also need to know that there are many other variants you could search and try out, such as Double Attack Blackjack, Pitch Blackjack, Spanish 21, Tripple 7 Blackjack, Super Fun 21 etc. Each and one of them is a preferred variant for a specific region or country in the world and has its own fans and regular players.
