The new NFL regular season is back with a bang. The exciting NFL Kickoff Game between the reigning Super Bowl LV champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Dallas Cowboys was the most watched opening game since 2015, averaging 26 million total viewers on all platforms.
For the Cowboys, it was a case of new season but the same old Tom Brady. The Cowboys took the lead with 89 seconds left in the game but that was too long for Brady who marched his Buccaneers down the field to set up Ryan Succop, who kicked the game-winning field goal.
In addition to betting on which team will win Super Bowl LVI (scheduled to be played on February 13, 2022, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California), bettors have a selection of other NFL Futures bets to choose from.

Which NFL team will score the most points?
A popular NFL Futures market is the ‘Regular Season Highest Scoring Team’, where the pre-season favorites with leading sportsbook Bovada were the Kansas City Chiefs at odds of +550. This was backed up when Patrick Mahomes’ team racked up 33 points in their opener against the Cleveland Browns.
Somewhat surprisingly, the Chiefs were only the sixth-highest scoring team in the 2020 regular season. Next in the betting comes the Buccaneers, led by the legendary Tom Brady, at +800.
The leading teams in this betting market with the Bovada Sportsbook at the start of the season:
- Kansas City Chiefs 11/2
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers 8/1
- Buffalo Bills 9/1
- Green Bay Packers 12/1
- Cleveland Browns 14/1
- Dallas Cowboys 14/1
- Los Angeles Rams 14/1
- San Francisco 49ers 14/1
- Baltimore Ravens 15/1
- Indianapolis Colts 18/1
- Minnesota Vikings 18/1
- Seattle Seahawks 18/1
Somewhat surprisingly, the Chiefs only had the sixth-highest scoring offense in the NFL regular season last time.
Kansas City scored 473 points in their 16 regular season games at an average of 29.6 Points per Game (PTS/G). They were top in Yards though at 6,653, averaging 415.8 YDS/G.
The biggest factor in backing the Chiefs to finish as the ‘Regular Season Highest Scoring Team’ has to be that they have the best quarterback in the business on their roster in Patrick Mahomes. Last season Mahomes threw for 4,740 yards, with 38 touchdowns against just six picks.
The Chiefs also have a couple of other elite playmakers in tight end Travis Kelce and receiver Tyreek Hill. With Andy Reid’s play-calling, the Chiefs are sure to put on another spectacular offensive performance during the 2021/22 season.

- 2016 – Atlanta Falcons – 540
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bucs have the benefit of returning all their regular starters from last season.
Tom Brady threw 40 touchdown passes for the Buccaneers in the regular season in 2020. He will benefit from a full offseason in Tampa Bay, along with Antonio Brown, Leonard Fournette and Rob Gronkowski.
Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills finished second for PTS/G (31.3) in the regular season and tied-second for YDS/G (396.4). Josh Allen took his game to a new level with 45 touchdowns last season and the Bills have a great offense.
In his first season with Buffalo, Stefon Diggs led the league in catches (127) and receiving yards (1,535).
Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers were the highest scoring team in the regular season in 2020, with 509 at 31.8 PTS/G.
MVP Aaron Rodgers looks like he will still be on board for what looks likely to be his 17th and final season with the Packers.
Green Bay can call upon an excellent passing and running game, that few if any of the other franchises can match.
Receiver Davante Adams caught a league-high 18 touchdown passes in 14 games, while running back Aaron Jones had a second straight 1,000-yard season.
