Remember when both the PGA and European Tour’s best player of the year was decided by a straight Order of Merit or Money List? Those days seem light years away. Colin Montgomerie won the European Tour Order of Merit a record 8 times; with seven consecutive wins from 1993 to 1999. That’s astounding consistency. Tiger Woods was equally as dominant…[Read more]

With Ben Martin and Robert Streb capturing their first PGA Tour victories in consecutive weeks now we are into the 2014/15 wrap-around season; it got me thinking about other winless players and who are the most likely players to win their maiden victories over the coming months. My thoughts are below and please add your views!

Steve Bamford started the topic Watson looking for Revenge at Gleneagles in the forum Golf 9 years, 7 months ago
Tom Watson is one of the most respected individuals in world golf. 8 Major Championships, 39 PGA Tour titles, 3 time Ryder Cup team winning member (USA retained the cup in his 4th appearance) and victorious Ryder Cup captain. Remember this guy should have won the 2009 Open Championship at Turnberry at 60 years of age!
He brings to Gleneagles a…[Read more]

Steve Bamford started the topic The $10 Million Tournament in the forum Golf 9 years, 8 months ago
You have to say that the prize money available in golf is well recognised as being the most profitable in professional sport; but the Tour Championship at East Lake really takes things to the highest level of reward. The tournament winner takes home $1.44 million of the $8 million prize fund. Remember that tournament prize fund gets divided…[Read more]

It’s finally come down to 2 players for automatic qualification for the European Team. Jamie Donaldson’s magnificent victory in Prague under the most intense pressure has rightfully gained the Welshman the 8th automatic spot; leaving one space to fill via the World Points list. Stephen Gallagher needs to finish in the Top 2 in Turin this week to…[Read more]

Well I was right about Hunter Mahan! Nice result for followers at 50/1 last week in New Jersey. So with Mahan and Bradley shoe-ins, we’ve got a situation at the Deutsche where there is a single spot up for grabs for the strongest. The most likely looking at current form has to be Bill Haas. Will he turn up at TPC Boston, or will Snedeker or…[Read more]

Well things have changed one week down the line. No Tiger and Steve Stricker has ruled himself out of the race. Jason Dufner can’t compete as he has bulging disc problems meaning that the opportunities for picks have widened. Bradley is a shoe-in leaving 2 spots. So I will go for Snedeker and Mahan

Let’s face it, the American Ryder Cup team looks to be in disarray right now. Matt Kuchar has an injury, Bubba is being Bubba, Zach is hideously out of form and Jordan Spieth seems to be more focused on his move to Las Vegas, than golf right now. Fowler, Mickelson, Furyk and the two rookies namely Walker and Reed; are all in good nick, but it’s…[Read more]

Mickelson the Magnificent! Phil’s PGA Championship performance was typically ‘on cue’ and boosted him into the 9 automatic spots for the Ryder Cup. The nine automatic berths on the U.S. Ryder Cup team are set with Bubba Watson, Rickie Fowler, Jim Furyk, Jimmy Walker, Phil Mickelson, Matt Kuchar, Jordan Spieth, Patrick Reed and Zach Johnson.…[Read more]

This week’s PGA Championship marks the cut off to qualify automatically for the Ryder Cup. After the Bridgestone Invitational last week it’s become clear (as if it wasn’t already) that Tiger Woods won’t make the Ryder Cup team; at least on merit. Dustin Johnson’s revelations and consequent ‘time out’ from professional golf, have also opened up…[Read more]

The Open Championship at Royal Liverpool, Hoylake is a fascinating proposition. The course is a links test, which supposedly isn’t as ‘trick’ as many courses on the Open rota, and naturally plenty of people are referring to Hoylake yielding low scores after Tiger’s heroics here in 2006.
Calm conditions on Thursday, will allow some to score…[Read more]

Interesting at Congressional last week that Patrick Reed blew his chance to seal his Ryder Cup spot. Led through 36 to 54 holes; will he regret that missed chance? Chris Kirk and Brendon Todd (who continues to play top golf) are closing in on those Top 9 positions. Na, Simpson, Bradley, Woodland, Haas and Holmes all in-action this week in West…[Read more]
